Accountable leadership is not about proving yourself, it's about making sure each person receives from you in a manner that will make a difference, or inspire them. Prefacing inquisitions with "Like I said", "As we discussed", or "As you'll recall" will only erode the trust that others have in you. This type of narrative is interpreted as disciplinary and will ultimately lead people to avoid asking altogether. As a leader, you have a responsibility to give to your followers according to their needs. This includes communication; clarification is a privilege, to discipline it is simply egotistical validation.
