When the motive for leadership is misaligned, it can be more of a struggle than a reward. Motives of self-promotion or aggrandization led to a mindset of "Be Right" over "Do Right". Thinking you have to 'know it all' or 'do it all' are two common naive management idiosyncrasies. These behaviors lead to internal stress and burnout of the leader (not to mention the adverse medical effects it can create), and equally as detrimental, lead to behaviors that errode trust of the followers.
